Baptism

General Information When Registering for Baptism

Baptismal Preparation

A meeting to discuss the meaning and the Rite of Baptism is a prerequisite for parents when baptizing their first child.

Choosing Godparents

Two Godparents is always preferred. No more than two is permitted.

Because Godparents profess the Catholic Faith and promise to assist in raising the child in the Catholic Church, each must be:

1) a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church

2) at least 16 years old

3) having received the Sacrament of Confirmation

Witnesses – It occasionally happens that there be a desire for family members or friends of other faiths have a role in the baptism of the child. While this practice is not encouraged, these persons are able to serve as witnesses.

Selecting a Date

It is always best to baptize your child within first few weeks after birth, when possible. Arrangements are to be made with the parish office. Baptisms are held on Saturdays and Sundays. We will do our best to accommodate your preferred date and time.

Baptismal Certificate

A Baptismal Certificate will be provided at the time of baptism. The reception of future sacraments will be recorded at the parish where they are received and at St. Felix. Baptismal Certificates can be obtained free of charge at any time by calling or writing the parish office.

The Baptismal Ceremony

Please introduce yourself to the priest immediately before the ceremony. Flash photos are not permitted during the ceremony itself.
