E-News from Father Frerichs
October 8, 2010
Dear Friends in Christ,
Seems like ages since I have written to you - sorry about that! Anyways, there are a few tidbits to throw your way as long as I have a few minutes to sit at the computer this evening.
Parish Happenings
·The first thing is that a new sign has been installed on the top of the cross at St. Felix Cemetery. A special thank you goes out to Joe Baasch who completed metalwork, Paul Irlbeck who did the painting, and Bruce Hall who offered his equipment to do mount it.
· We also have a few weddings coming up. Please keep in prayer Brandon Tice and Jesse Wodele who will be unitied in marriage tomorrow, October 9th at 2:30 p.m.
· Please also keep in prayer Christina Passe and Ryan Kiley who will be untied in marriage next Saturday, October 17th, in the evening.
· Positive updates continue to come from Betsy Agin whose daughter Emilee was seriously hurt in a car accident two weeks ago. The families of Emilee and Cole have found tremendous outpouring of support from our community; please continue to keep her in prayer. Updates on her progress can be found on the caringbridge website at:

Church News
· In late September over 80 priests from the diocese of Winona gathered for their yearly conference held in Okoboji, Iowa. The theme this year was the implementation of the revised translation of the Roman Missal (prayers used at Mass). The conference was very informative. We learned that many materials are being prepared as a means for it's implementation. This will be an educational opportunity to learn more about the Mass, what we are praying, as well as the origin of the prayers being used. Since the revised texts will not begin until November 27th, 2011, much of the materials will not be made available until next spring. My impression after conversing with several lay people and priests, and having seen the revisions, is that we should expect a smooth transition.
On a Personal Note
Some of you may have heard by now that your ever-striving-to-be-a-good-pastor has discovered some food sensitivities. I mention this because my diet will change for about six months and I do not want people to receive a wrong impression if I should turn something away. The doctor says once this period is through I can begin reintroducing various foods back into my diet.
In closing I would offer a simple question of the week to test the memory of those who have been a part of our community for a long time. Can you name this priest who once served our community?
In Christ,
Fr Glenn Frerichs
